Training is not a one-time event. We stay engaged as long as the bed is in your facility including re-education for new staff and support for expanded use across additional units.
All service on rental units is covered by Kreg Therapeutics. We will repair or replace the unit as needed and there are no additional service charges to your facility for rental equipment maintenance. Our goal is zero downtime for your clinical team.
Immobility is one of the most underrecognized risks in the ICU. Every day a patient remains flat:
- Muscle strength declines 3–11% – and may never fully recover
- Delirium risk increases 10–15%
- Diaphragm weakness progresses – affecting 80% of ventilated patients
- Pressure injury, VAP, and fall risk all climb
In-Bed Verticalization™ gradually tilts a patient upright, shifting weight to the feet, expanding the lungs, stimulating the cardiovascular system, and reducing pressure on vulnerable skin — all without a transfer. The clinical evidence is compelling: oxygenation has been shown to improve from a PaO₂ of 94 → 142 mmHg in ARDS patients simply by moving from supine to vertical. One ECMO program using the Catalyst® reported an 83% survival rate vs. 53% in the ELSO registry, with zero posterior HAPIs. Early mobility within 72 hours of ICU admission is associated with shorter LOS, fewer complications, and better functional outcomes at discharge. The Catalyst® makes that possible for patients who have had no other option.

The Catalyst® was specifically designed for the most clinically complex patients, those who cannot be safely transferred out of bed but who urgently need mobility intervention. It is most commonly used for:
- Bariatric patients up to 750 lbs requiring safe mobilization and pressure injury prevention
- Mechanically ventilated patients needing ventilator weaning support and diaphragm preservation
- ECMO and mechanical cardiac device patients (IABP, Impella) – the 2024 ELSO Guidelines formally recommend verticalization for ECMO patients unable to ambulate
- Neurological patients including TBI, stroke, and disorders of consciousness
- Burn ICU patients requiring pulmonary support and skin integrity management
- General ICU patients at risk for pressure injuries, delirium, or ICU-acquired weakness

The Catalyst® is designed for straightforward setup and does not require a complex installation process. In most facilities, coordination with BioMed or facilities management is minimal. Our Kreg clinical team will work directly with your staff to ensure the bed is properly set up, safety-checked, and that all relevant team members, including BioMed if required by your facility’s policy are briefed before patient use. We handle the logistics so your clinical team can focus on the patient.
